Museum After Dark: Working America Exhibit Opening
Join us at the Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage as we explore recent American history through the exhibit Working America, featuring photography by artist Sam Comen. Comen presents American immigrants and first-generation Americans at work in the small, skilled trades as icons of the American experience. The subjects share stories of economic independence and struggle, belonging and exclusion, faith and fear, and service to both community and family. Our education director will take us on a tour of the exhibit and we will share local and regional stories from our oral history collection. Finally, Historian Dr. Justin Prince will lecture on the subject of labor and immigration in late nineteenth century.
Special tour of Working America Exhibit: 6 pm – 7 pm
Labor in the United States lecture: 7 pm – 8 pm
